The goal of homeopathic treatment is very simple. It is to bring about a moment of stillness, a fluid, panic-free background, between the gathering of information and the body’s chosen reaction. When that stillness is missing, we get emotional and physical reactions that are rigid, repeated, and ineffective. These confused reactions produce unwanted results we call “chronic symptoms.” The process of moving from these troublesome reactions to more flexible and useful ones can be achieved in three steps.
The first step is to begin to notice these reactions. Some examples are:
-feeling excessive anxiety in routine situations
-allergic reactions to non-toxic substances like pollen or dust, or an extensive list of foods
-severe painful cramping with menses
-poor ability to deal with conflict because of automatic defensive reactions
Even with careful effort, it can be hard to see your own rigid responses. Sometimes that is all you know, like water to the fish. And even if you are aware, how do you change? Pointing out excessive anxiety doesn’t help most people to relax.
So the second step is to take a remedy that is known to cause reactions as similar as possible to the ones you are stuck with. This can pretty miraculously allow behaviors and symptoms that seemed immutable to begin to break up and shift.
The last step is to evaluate, over four to six weeks, to see which confused, chronic symptom producing reactions have been visited by a moment of calm that allows for the return of useful, effective, healthy reactions.
My preferred and recommended method of treatment is to cycle through these three steps every four to six weeks until a new improved state has stabilized.
